It’s the meeting point of everything I am — artist, mother, scientist, teacher, seeker. My practice was born out of years spent studying the living world, and even longer years spent nurturing it.

I have been practicing oils for over 25 years, and what began as curiosity about how life protects and renews itself became a philosophy of making — one that honours process, patience, and the unseen forces that hold us all.

In my studio, each painting begins with willow charcoal and burnt sienna. These humble materials are more than mark-making tools — they are elemental. The carbon in the charcoal mirrors the very backbone of life itself, connecting my work to the organic chemistry that forms our world. From this foundation, I build layers of translucent Sennelier oils, carefully blended with classical mediums, mindful of their dilutions and capacity to hold light. These layers are not just paint; they are vessels through which spirit and matter meet — where observation and breath give life to what we behold.

Through Jessie Cooney Artistry, I offer more than paintings. I offer a space for learning, reflection, and re-enchantment with the craft itself. My masterclasses and mentorships are for those who wish to paint not just with their hands, but with their whole being — to rediscover that art is a way of knowing, a way of healing, a way of belonging to the living world.

Everything I create under Jessie Cooney Artistry is an extension of that observation — a practice of noticing what is fragile, luminous, and worth preserving.
